uniform policy
At Studio 17 Performing Arts we have a uniform policy when participating in classes. It is important that students meet the expectations of the studio’s uniform policy. This is not only for the student’s comfort and their movement limitations, it also allows teachers to thoroughly correct each student.
In general, when enrolled at our studio it is compulsory for all students to purchase a Studio T-Shirt or a Muscle Singlet for their classes as a uniform (excluding the Ballet students).
★ BALLET CLASS ★
It is important for all students in this class to own a pair of Ballet shoes. Students must also wear a leotard of their own choice with a pair of pink Ballet stockings. Hair must be up in a slick ballet bun. Students can wear a Ballet skirt over the top of the leotard if they like.
★ CONTEMPORARY/LYRICAL CLASS ★
Students will be expected to wear an outfit that is form-fitting, so that we are able to see the students’ body and their alignment whilst dancing. Students are welcome to wear a similar outfit to a Ballet class, or students are more than welcome to choose their own outfit from home. Hair needs to be tied up. Lyrical class is done barefoot.
★ JAZZ CLASS ★
Students will be expected to wear their studio t-shirt/singlet and a pair of either form-fitting leggings or dance shorts. It is important for students who would like to take part in a Jazz class to own a pair of Jazz shoes. Students will need them for their end-of-year concert. Hair needs to be tied up.
★ STRETCH AND STRENGTH CLASS ★
Students will be expected to wear their studio t-shirt/singlet and a pair of either form-fitting leggings or dance shorts. No shoes. Hair needs to be tied up.
★ HIP HOP AND BREAK CLASS ★
Students will be expected to wear their studio t-shirt/singlet and student’s own choice for bottoms. Runners would be the best option when participating in a Hip Hop class. Hair needs to be tied up.
★ musical theatre CLASS ★
Students will be expected to wear their studio t-shirt/singlet and student’s own choice for their bottoms. Please always wear enclosed shoes, no thongs. All students are asked to bring their own A4 Display Folder, as students will be given scripts and lyrics to take home for practice.
★ ACROBATICS CLASS ★
Students will be expected to wear their studio t-shirt/singlet and dance shorts for bottoms. No shoes. Hair needs to be tied up.
★ SALSA CLASS ★
Students will be expected to wear their studio t-shirt/singlet and a pair of either form-fitting leggings or dance shorts. It is up to the students to either wear comfortable enclosed shoes OR Jazz Shoes. Students will need them for their end-of-year concert. Hair needs to be tied up
